They were absolutely amazing when I called and they quoted me over the phone (completely off). Their professional never came out to confirm the price. They changed my pickup date 3 times causing me to reschedule my flight.
Then they dropped off the planet. Handed me over to a company that picked up my stuff, doubled the cost and then refused delivery for 3 months!
I finally had to fly to New Jersey to pick up my stuff and drive it across country myself!
Save yourself the headache, just don't trust the pretty talk up-front.
CONSUMER BEWARE !!!! This company never operated as a broker they stated to me that they were a full service moving company. I asked all the right questions and lie after lie they assured me to transport my furniture and cars from California to Texas at a rate of 4200.00 to rush me to sign a contract to lock in a rate that won’t change and taking 800+ upfront towards my move . I️ double checked daily to see when my cars would be scheduled and at that time I️ found out that this company was not full service but a broker that could not guarantee a price for my cars because they were a separate company I️ ended up paying more for my cars and pushed off when I️ called standard movers back to discuss the lies they told to get me to sign the contract with them But received no help nor answer . Secondly on the day of my move the movers never showed and never called until I️ called them repeatedly to which they said there was nothing they could do after the truck was involved in a “accident” but come the next day causing me to lose the flights for my family (460 dollars) for my job relocation and I️ had to repurchase flights at the last minute costing us around 600 which the moving company stated by recorded line that they would take off the total cost of my move . The next day the driver called and stated they had no idea about the credit to my account and to call the company and they were on their way which was also recorded …at this point our cars were gone ( thank god for trackers and gps ) I️ called back to the office and received no answer , the driver never answered again and no one ever showed ! I️ was forced in one day to hire local movers (500 dollars) and find a storage (350 dollars) to house my household goods and get to Texas for my job and my cars (thank god that contractor turned out to be honest and told me about the brokers). Every time I️ called standard they never answered until days later telling me that I️ canceled my move by asking about the credit promised to me by recording by both the agents at standard and the moving company . The manager screamed at me when I️ asked for a full refund stating that I️ would receive nothing because I️ cancelled which is not the case I️ never stated the word cancel nor that I️ didn’t want the service anywhere in any conversation with anyone at any point in any conversation. Standard falsified the cancellation to take my deposit because that is their scam .. they mis-schedule pick ups on purpose and then state you cancelled . I️ received an email stating this lie and called again to request my refund and let them know they are soliciting business under false pretense when you google them they literally have stolen US STANDARD movers company !! The logo the emails and correspondence are all the same to trick you into believing the reviews online that ARE NOT FOR THEIR COMPANY THEY ARE NOT US STANDARD. They also have employees write fake reviews .. standard has cost my family thousands in recouping of damages and last minute furniture rentals and refuse to refund me my money ! The night mare they have put us through is unbelievable ! Do not do business with this company ! No matter what they say they are not movers but brokers who lie to get a upfront deposit by Zelle and work the system in their contract for you to lose every single dime .. I’m contacting a lawyer and the federal agencies for transport after seeing so many complaints in the Florida area against their company and found groups on social media involved in lawsuits .. it’s sad to see people knowingly take from innocent families this way only positive is that I️ have my belongings that could have been held for ransom , damaged or lost like the other cases I’m
Lashammera,
It is true that the carrier was unable to meet your original departure date due to a crew issue. The dispatch manager proposed to cover the rescheduling fee for the flight when you mentioned that you had a flight scheduled. The rescheduling fee was accepted, and you were placed on the new schedule for the new date. Prior to the driver arriving on the day of pickup, you instructed the driver not to come unless $1600 would be deducted from your bill. It was stated to you that they would not be taking $1600 off your bill since there were no valid proofs or reasons why the rescheduling fee was $1600. In response to the call from Standard Van Lines customer service, you started screaming, saying that she was a fat a** and saying other demeaning things. You were informed that your deposit was nonrefundable if you refused the service. The contract you signed indicated this. Furthermore, you received a confirmation email that if you cancel your move, your deposit is not refundable. That was on October 14. As of 10/27, you have repeatedly called into our office continuing with your demeaning and derogatory comments after our representative corrected you and told you that nobody came to your house since you had refused to let them in. It has been informed to you that your call will be terminated if you continue to make discriminatory/vulgar/derogatory remarks and behave unprofessionally. In my opinion, any human being would want to be treated with humane behavior. Unfortunately, that was not how you wished to conduct yourself. The representative informed you that since you would be seeking legal action, it would be necessary for the representative to send any correspondence via USPS as per standard procedure. Our company does not have any affiliation with US Standard. It is totally false that we "stole" their logo and name. As you can see, our logo is not similar in any way. Your false accusations and slanderous comments have been forwarded to our legal team for review.
We used Standard Van Lines for the first time about a week ago I’m glad we did. These guys were speedy, cautious and overall pleasant to deal with. They wrapped several pieces of furniture in blankets and made sure everything was well secured on the track before they started to drive to the destination. Would use them with our next move. Easy five stars here!
We called within6 business days to change the moving date to ask to change our pick up time frame, they never called back. We called the next day, and were told that because we were within 5 business days we had to pay a $1000 fee because the truck was already on its way. They were incredibly rude, offered us a $500 discount on the fee, even though it was their fault for not calling us back. When we asked to speak to the manager, they threatened us that we would have to pay the full $1000 if he was made to get on the phone. They already had our deposit, so we had no choice but to pay the $500 cash. Their sales reps are very accommodating but once you sign a contract with them, they are TERRIBLE to work with. We will be filing an official complaint with the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT HIRE THEM!
I'm sorry to make you feel this way. Our contract stipulates that the date changes within 5 working days from the date of your move, and we must charge a fee because the funds have been allocated to the crew. I checked the phone records, but I couldn't find any calls earlier than that date. If you wish to discuss this matter further, please feel free to call Monday - Friday 9-6 pm EST or email any concerns to info@standardvanlines.com.
I absolutely do not recommend that any individual move with Standard Van Lines. They sent verbally abusive movers (via a third party company) to pick up our stuff, who then overcharged us by $1,800 (illegally) and broke two expensive pieces of furniture -- both of which Standard Van Lines refused to compensate us for despite the insurance policy included in our contract. They did not treat us fairly and our moving process was a nightmare.
If there are any additional services that are needed during the loading process, the carrier must assess those charges. If there are packing supplies needed, carrying items over 75 ft to the truck, or bulky items, these are assessed at the time of pickup. I do see that you did turn away service the day of your original pickup due to the additional charges at pickup. We did reschedule you for a later date at your request. It was later decided that you no longer wished to move forward and canceled the move. All carriers carry the standard cargo protection for 60 cents per lb. per article, as mandated by the DOT. Unfortunately, due to the money from your deposit being exhausted for services rendered and securing a second crew to complete your, per your contract, we are not able to offer a refund.
This estimate includes the following:
Professional Door-to-Door service.
Expert advice and guidance throughout the course of your move.
Disassembly of all standard furniture required for safe movement at the origin.
Reassembly for all items disassembled by the movers on the day of pick-up at destination.
Wrapping of all furniture with quilted moving blankets.
Itemized inventory indicating condition at origin of items.
Loading & unloading of all goods.
All transportation, taxes, tolls, mileage, and fuel surcharges.
Standard cargo protection up to $10,000 based on 0.60 cents per lb. per article; if selected at the time the estimate is prepared, estimated cost of the full value protection option at varying deductible levels (these are only estimates and the actual cost is determined by your selection on the carrier`s bill of lading according to carrier's tariff).
No elevator charges.
No charge for packing tape and moving pads.
No date change penalties for requests that are made 5 business days prior to the first available pickup date.
Additional fees and Accessorial Services (if applicable to the move)::
If not included within the agreement, professional packing services are not included. However, it is at the discretion of the mover at the time of pickup to determine if items will require professional packing services. In these instances, additional charges will be applied. These items include but are not limited to the following: televisions, mirrors, glass tabletops, wall art, contents within dresser drawers, etc.
Packing supplies, such as bubble wrap, shrink wrap, boxes, etc. are not included
Items being transported that are non-stackable, are considered Bulky items. A Bulky item charge will apply for those non-stackable items, as deemed by the mover at the time of pickup.
If there is more than one flight of stairs at your origin and (or) destination which require the movers to transport items beyond the first flight, there will be a charge of $75 per additional flight. There will be no charge for the first flight of stairs at either the origin or destination.
Most movers within the Standard Van Lines LLC network perform the pickup and delivery using a tractor trailer (18 wheeler). Drivers must have the ability to park within 75 feet at both the origin and destination points to avoid long carry charges. Depending on the size of the job, long carry charges start at $150.00. If the tractor trailer cannot park within a reasonable distance, shuttle services may be required. Shuttle services begin at $300.00.

Do NOT use Standard Van Lines located in West Palm Beach FL. The salesman—Justin—lied. Our experience was the same as others. Justin will give you the quote, want the deposit via PayPal—don’t do it—then the move date gets changed, and then a contractor shows up and wants twice as much. Justin had told us that the same crew would drive to our destination without a delay in delivery. Nope. Besides twice the price, they not would deliver for 15 days. I sent the movers away because of fear of them loading our belongings then saying we owed more. He would not give me the final price until they had loaded. Of course, Justin would not answer his phone and we could not reach anyone at Standard. I had no choice but to turn away the contractors because the price was not final until they loaded. Horrible experience—they will not respond to our calls now.
I wish you had reached out to us before sending the drivers away and we could have helped explain the situation a little better. If the driver thinks that additional space may be needed because the item is added to the inventory, you can always choose to stick to the initial estimate.
Let’s start from day one the man that took my estimate (apparently totally wrong) was ok
Company is completely unorganized could not get straight answers from anyone
They didn’t show up the first day called 3 hours late to tell me they can’t come but will at 10am the next day
Day two I call At 9:40am to get a time and after 10 mins on hold get told they will be out at 2pm at 2 pm I call and am told they are on their way should be another hour ok. I call at 4:30 like ok what’s going on I get a call from the movers telling me they are two hours away ok so now they won’t be here till 7pm the man obviously is trying to make me reschedule but I can’t at this point they arrived at 6 so they were only an hour away the driver had a bad mood from the beginning telling me he had to charge extra for every little thing
The man gets half my stuff loaded up in the truck and tell me the whole load will cost $2000 more then estimated I was quoted $3000 we started arguing the price I called the company (closed because it’s 8) get ahold of Sara who was rude but I was angry still no excuse to talk to a customer like then the man told me that a certain amount of the truck is X amount cubic foot I go that doesn’t sound right so I get my tape measure to figure it out myself and he closed the back of the truck and wouldn’t let me measure then just says I’m not doing it and starts off loading my stuff and dropping a fragile box full of china dishes (broken now) then leaves all my stuff in the driveway ($5000+) of tool and drives away this is so insane NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPAMY!!!!!
Never again. Do not even put yourself through the hassle. Everything started off great with their customer service, we specifically went through [NAME EDIT]. We scheduled to have everything packed up and moved by their company. He told us our quote was based on inventory. This was completely false. They contracted our move out through a third party (even though they act like it will be their company doing the move). The first problem was that the movers showed up 24 hours ahead of schedule (even though Standard Van Lines called us the day before giving us a date of arrival). Second, Turns out it was based on the space used on the truck, causing us to owe over $5,000 more on pick-up than originally discussed. In addition, the movers that came claimed that they had no idea they were supposed to be packing stuff up. They claim that the wardrobe boxes were what took up the most space (why wasn't this accounted for when you knew you were packing up a full house, including closets). Once we found this out, we immediately called customer service and were directed by [NAME EDIT]. [NAME EDIT] initially seemed like she wanted to help, however, once I began asking questions - she and [NAME EDIT] have completely gone ghost. They didn't take digital payments (as they said they would) and no one is responsive to emails. We were told it would be a direct move and were told our things left their contractors warehouse 2 weeks ago. Well - turns out our stuff has supposedly left just last week. We haven't heard a thing from Standard Van Lines, and have no way of tracking our items. I have never dealt with anything like this in my life. Save yourself the hassle if you can.
I am unable to locate a customer by this name. I apologize that you had a negative experience. Please feel free to provide us more information so we can locate the correct account or reach out to us directly at 800-430-1189x101 Monday-Friday 9:30-6pm EST.
If I could give this company zero stars I would. They have taken my deposit $900.00 and are informing me it's non refundable when their movers not only came late my window of pick up was 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, they showed up at 5:30 pm, all three men used my restroom and walked around my house and gave me another estimate of just less than $13,000 and a 70% deposit. The original quote was $2,600. They saw a desperate single women with three kids and desperate. I had buyers moving in the next day I had to be out by noon. I called customer service whom informed me my deposit is non refundable because the movers showed up. They verbally told me they could not move my belongings that day. Scam company and I will be hiring an attorney to seek justice.
I do apologize that you feel this way. After the phone call that you placed to our Customer Service Department after you had turned away service, more items were added to the inventory at the time of pickup, which was not previously disclosed to us. Your estimated price that you received from Standard Van lines is based on the amount of space your items are taking up inside the truck. Your original estimate that you received from us is based upon the 48 items you told our booking agent about. When the driver arrives, your inventory has more than doubled. The driver does need to charge you for the extra cubic feet of undisclosed items, which is why your price increases. You also did have the option to move only the original estimated amount of space instead of refusing services. Due to the money from your deposit being used towards services rendered we are unable to offer a full refund, as per the contract.
I cannot caution you enough if you're about to hire this company. They are awful. The actual movers are subcontracted and the communication is next to nothing. My movers rescheduled FOUR TIMES and then tried to show up at 10PM at my apartment complex. The customer service woman who "helped" me was atrocious. She was highly argumentative and raised her voice to me the whole time. When I asked her to stop yelling at me she said, "Ma'm I could show you what yelling sounds like but I won't". I'm disgusted by this company and wish they'd be put out of business so no one else has to go through what I did. They are not refunding my $2k deposit, even though I was never moved. Please do not hire them for your own good.
We apologize that you feel this way. Unfortunately, drivers are subject to real-life conditions that can cause delays. The carrier was attempting to service your move within the two-day window, per your contract. The contract does state that times are not guaranteed as delays can happen, due to various uncontrollable factors. When you did reach out to us, we did try to assist you in every way possible. We will be reviewing the most recent call logs, as we have never encountered such complaints about the employee on the call today and the notes on your file from this call do not match the situation you are describing. Any cancellations outside of the 72-hour window after booking or refusal of service the deposit is nonrefundable Please feel free to call the office Monday- Friday 9:30-6 pm EST or email info@standardvanlines.com.
Professionals are you joking: This started out great until the day of the move, when the subcontracted moving company showed up the estimate that Standard Van Lines had given me was so grossly under it was sick by $6K. I thought they were just trying to railroad me. I tried calling back Standard Van Lines. As soon as I started asking questions, I was accused of being a “Smart A#@”, and hostel, after I asked for her supervisor, she said she was the supervisor. Why because she is the only one working on a Saturday, what lack of customer service. I had to settle with a move that was estimated at $4K with Standard Van Lines to a subcontractor that charged me $10.5K.
This service is far from professional and if your military or service-connected brothers, and sisters stay away. They do not hire quality subcontractors, I will take the time to review them on their site, please save yourself the headache and stop after reading this!
According to the comments on your account, items requested by the customer to move during the pick-up need more space. We know that moving is a very stressful period, and if the cost increases due to the larger space, it may be upsetting. Based upon the inventory that was at the pick up place, your items required 1300 cubic feet opposed to the 430 estimated from the information provided at booking. The estimate is for the amount of space reserved in the truck, so if the required space increases, they must evaluate more costs.
If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free reach out to us at 800-430-1189 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 6 pm.
I spoke with Vince and got everything set up. He sent me several contracts that I wouldn't sign or do anything with until I had a price I was comfortable with paying. I got the contract, signed it for the correct price and and knew the moving date was on the 30th of September as we closed on our house on October 1st and had to give immediate possession to the new owners. I reiterated this multiple times to Vince that we had to be out on the 30th of September, no ifs, ands or buts. Spoke with a manager who tried to jack.up my price prior to pick up and move day and confirmed the 30th as the move day. Then on the 30th I called tonfind out when the truck would be here and they said oh it wont be there until tomorrow the 1st. I said that isnt what I agreed to. Shawn said well you signed the contract and since you did that there is nothing we can do as there is a 2 day window and they will be there tomorrow honoring the contract you signed. I asked to speak with a manager and was on hold for about 10 minutes. A woman gets on the phone and says give just a moment to get your file up. Waited on hold about another 5 minutes before I think her name was Sara got on the phone. She told me why would you sign the contract without reading it and since you did they will be there tomorrow on the 1st like the contract states. I said this not what I agreed to as Instated I had to be out on the 30th of September so why would I ever agree to a date after then if I stated over and over Inhave to be out by the 30th no later. Sara said well you signed it and it is a binding contract and its not there fault that I signed it. I asked to speak with someone above her and she said there is no one above her other than the CEO/President. I asked to speak with them and she said who do you know that would get them on the phone with you. She said if you had a problem with walmart are you going to talk with Mr. Walton and I said no because he is dead. She said well what about the owner and said no they will not get on the phone. She is the highest I can speak with and until Incalm down and talk to her like an adult not a 2nd grader she was going to note the account and hung up on me. I called back but they forwarded me to voicemail every time. I called Vince to gigure out how he could put the 1st when I precisely stated I have to be out by the 30th but he would not answer the phone and it went to voicemail. I hung up and called back and low and behold this same sara answered and what can I do for you Mr. R****, as I stated you signed a contract and that is it and they will glbe there tomorrow. I said you all mislead me and connived me to sign your contract and and changed the date from the 30th to the 1st. She said no one did that and we cant help that you cant read. She then stated Ryan to whom I never spoke with is who transferred me to her which is false I never spoke with a Ryan, Inspokenwith a Shawn. She said well mow your lying as he is 5ft from me and said he is who sent you to me. I said you full of S**t as I never spoke with a Ryan only a Shawn. She said well I can see how thisnis going to go and said yes your right as she kept trying to talk over me and interrupt me trying prove my point. Very sad customer service. I would recommend just renting a Uhaul and doing it yourself as it is a whole lot cheaper and you can take care of your own stuff as these people do not care about you or your property. A few minutes later Sara called back and said I just need to know if we are still moving you or not and if I should cancel the movers. I said obviously I paid the down payment and need them now so yes they are going to move me. Since you all screwed me over on the day I dont have a choice but to wait until tomorrow now do I and then I hung up. I would highly recommend doing you due diligence and reading reviews and checking backgrounds on all the companies your thinking about using but one thing is for sure it is cheaper to do it yourself using Uhaul or something like that even though it can be grueling and back breaking work it migh. e better. All these companies care about is money and screwing people over. I will be aasking for a refund or discount as they have totally screwed up my move and my closing on my house. Please read and check out companies before signing anything and make sure you reciew and check pricing and dates before signing.
I'm sorry if there was any misunderstanding about the pickup dates, our contracts do have a 2-day pickup window. When you booked on 9/10, the window that was listed on the contract was 9/30 with a backup date of 10/1. We do our best to complete the relocation on the first date requested. Sometimes we are unable to schedule a move on the customers first requested date. There was two separate emails sent after booking that do discuss moving dates in it, one sent on 9/10 and the next one on 9/15. Listed in the email titled FAQ About Your upcoming move that was sent on 9/15 it states:
Pickup Dates & Pickup Times- We are required to have a two-day window when scheduling moves. We always try scheduling your move on the first day of the window. Unfortunately, there is still a chance that you can be scheduled on that second day. So please keep this information in mind when booking any travel arrangements. Dispatch provides us with the schedules for the following day between 4-5 pm EST, you will receive a call shortly after that time frame. You will receive a call the day before your first pickup date at this time to tell you what you're scheduled for.
The Day of Pickup- Please keep in mind that you or someone listed on your contract must be onsite for the pickup to facilitate the move. If you are not able to be onsite for the pickup, please inform us ASAP. If there is someone that is available to be there for you, we can add them to the contract, so they are authorized to sign the paperwork. If there is nobody there that can facilitate the move it will have to be rescheduled. You will receive a call from the driver 45 minutes to an hour before the drivers arrive.
On 9/28, you were called by our Quality Assurance Agent, Justin. This call was to go over the last inventory. Any adjustments made in the size of the inventory, from other items or more specifications about the size of items. Since your quote is related to the amount of space your items are occupying in the truck. After the call with Justin, you opted to go with the original quote, which is always an option for the customer. On 9/30, you spoke to Ryan in Customer Service about the pickup being on the 1st. And this is when you told him that those dates. At around noon on the 30th you then spoke to Veronica about the move date. This is when she discusses the contract with you. Stating that you did sign that your pick up could be scheduled on either day of that window. I do have it noted that you told Veronica that you where moving forward with the move being scheduled on the 1st. We do not have a Shawn that works here so I think that you may have misheard his name. And Veronica was trying to help go over the situation. CEO's and owners of companies do not handle Customer calls, this is the reason that they hire Customer Service Departments. I apologize if you are under the impression that you can call a company and speak to an owner/ceo but are very busy people and that is not always possible. We had no idea that there was any further issues after the phone call informing Veronica that you where going with the move. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us back directly at 800-430-1189 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 6pm EST.
I hired Standard Van Lines for my move to Arizona. Standard Van Lines quoted me an estimated value of 500cf. They contracted out my move to Stop and Move. Stop and Move contracted out my move to Elite Pro Movers. On the day of my move, I was quoted a new estimated value of 1765cf. I disputed this estimated value and the driver informed me nothing will be loaded until the new contract is signed and I pay a partial payment. I called Stop and Move and they said the same thing. This is one day before I am to vacate the house so the new owners can move in.
After repeated unanswered calls, my items arrived 16 days after the delivery date they provided. When they arrived, I told them I wanted to measure because I knew I didn’t use 1765cf. They said I had to sign a document stating that I used 1765cf (8’x9’x27’) and pay the balance before they would open the truck. I knew I did not use that much space, but they refused to allow me to see into the truck until I signed and paid. Which I did because I felt I had no choice. When they opened the truck, it was half empty! I measured and found that I actually used 864cf (8’ X 9’ 12’). I was overcharged $3600. I contacted all the companies above to get this resolved and none are willing to correct the error and have stopped returning my calls.
Please share so another person is not scammed by these companies!! Thank you to everyone that helps spread the word!
Beware of Standard Van Lines bad business practices. Have had quite a few cross country moves completed with others but dealing with this company was the worst. Summary of my experience is below but before you give this company one cent, please note the following:
- Despite the 4+ star ratings on this site, they have a very poor rating with the BBB. Please look at the BBB site before you decide to do business with them.
- Based on my experience, I can not believe the positive reviews are real.
- The organization that regulates the long haul moving industry (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) indicates that Standard Van Lines has a large number of complaints filed against them and would not endorse doing business with them. Seven days into 2022 and they already have 4 complaints filed against them.
- Please visit fmcsa.dot.gov and look up Standard Van Lines in their search tool - Check registered movers database (https://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/hhg/search.asp?) to see the list of complaints before you decide to do business with them.
My experience:
Paid deposit for move of storage unit California to Dallas
- Contract terms provided a cancellation window of 72hrs from date of deposit for refund. Additionally, there was a clause in the contract that stated no refund if pickup was within 5 days. - Notified by Standard Van Lines on 12/9 of the carrier assigned to my move. - Upon further investigation into the company assigned, learned that they had less than 2 star ratings for all reviews in 2021 on the site that Standard Van Lines (Robert) recommended (www.mymovingreviews.com) that I use to check the quality of the movers. - Also learned that the company assigned to the move has a large number of complaints registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The organization that long haul moving companies must be registered with. - Per FMCSA, the company assigned has a history and track record of hostage complaints where they pick up your items and demand a higher price for delivery. - The FMCSA agent on the phone recommended not doing business with this carrier due to the large number of complaints and seemed to imply that there were other investigations related to this company also but was not clear.
- Sent an email requesting the move be canceled due to my findings and concern of having my items picked up and then held while demanding more money. Requested to have my deposit refunded. Standard Van Lines refused but offered a different carrier and upon looking into that carrier, their complaints were just as high with FMCSA as the previously assigned carrier.
Thank you for the additional input but we need to clarify some things for accuracy:
- Regarding the complaints are due to a company with a similar name:
It is true that there was a company with a similar name in Florida (US Standard Van Lines). However that company went out of business in mid 2021 per your conversation with me and their site is no longer active so you can note at least that the complaints filed in 3rd and 4th quarter are against Standard Van Lines should be accurate. Additionally, in the complaints submitted through the BBB, not any of your responses indicate that you are not the correct party for the complaint. You have earned your the rating with the BBB through bad business practices not because people have you confused with a different organization
- Regarding my issue and the cancellation window:
If I need to post the contract in this space I can but I did cancel within the 72hr window in the contract as soon as I learned that my move has been assigned to a carrier with a track record of holding customers items after pick up and demanding more money for the move. As for the several attempts verbiage in your response, to be accurate, you offered one other option with a moving company with a track record just as alarming as the first. Not willing to be lured into a scam that you appear to be complicit in and losing even more money.
Not sure why others having bad ratings is relevant. Standard Van Lines are doing bad business.
Our company has received many complaints against us because another company has a similar name. We have challenged the validity of a large number of those complaints and are continuing to work tirelessly to have the rest removed. We are not able to issue a refund as we have attempted to facilitate your move several times and you have decided to cancel the entire move outside of the cancellation window. There is no company that is ever completely safe from receiving negative reviews. Research any company, whether it's Walt Disney World or Standard Van Lines, and you'll find negative reviews. In spite of the best efforts of all companies, there will always be situations outside of their control that result in a negative complaint. In the last year, Mayflower, one of the largest and most well-known companies in the industry, had over 20 complaints under the multiple DOT numbers they operate under as well as a 1.5 rating on this site. Please feel free to contact customer service if you wish to discuss this matter directly.
We got a quote from them, looking at it closer they had changed some of our sizing. We called back and they promised a whole truck if we paid another $1000.00 which we stupidly did! The movers came and filled 1/2 of a UHAUL, they didn't get the information that it was a whole truck. They said they could fill the whole truck, but it would be another $4,000. We should have refused service and moved it ourselves with a UHAUL. Our stuff went to a storage unit in California, and we got it 6 weeks later. Our shelves were dented and unable to open, and some of our things were broken. We received someone else's tax records and bathroom supplies. They take advantage of a already stessful time. When we called to complain, they hung up on us. Go with another company! We have sent them letters and emails, but they won't respond.
Our contract was sold to another Trucking firm. Brooklyn Trucking. During our discussions we were assured pick up would be a specific day. Instead and due to their inability to schedule their trucks appropriately and as promised, we incurred an extra night of costs in a hotel. Instead of Sunday pickup, it was Monday. They also promised their arrival would be in the morning but instead, they showed up at 5 pm. We were originally quoted a cost of $2,185 but instead were hit with $5K+ moving costs by the salesman/mover you sent. Also were told If they can't fit a 50Ft+ truck on our street, $550 more will incur. i will assure you the street is spacious enough. This is the worse case of incompetence and unprofessionalism I have ever experienced. Treating customers like this is wrong. Being dishonest is worse. I will not recommend your firm to anyone for future or any moves. I will also be contacting the BBB as well as posting this experience on Facebook which I am sure you know is a major forum for these type things. James Bales
HORRIBLE experience.... IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE YOUR MONEY STOLEN OR BE OVERCHARGED THEN STAY AWAY.
We had a move scheduled for Thursday, September 30th, as we had to close on October 4th for the sale of our home. Unfortunately the moving company knew this, and therefore we were caught between a rock and a hard place. The day of the move, we got a call after them being already late, stating that they couldn't come because the truck broke down (of course it did). They offered to schedule a move sometime the next week around the 6th. That date would NOT work as we were scheduled to close on the 4th, and we couldn't leave everything in the house! In addition to that, were doing a cross country move from NH to TX and couldn't stay any longer in NH.
We asked for our deposit of $1300 back if they couldn't be there prior to our close as they had agreed to from the onset, due to our being locked in for dates. The lady said that because WE were cancelling the service and because we transferred with Zelle we couldn't get our deposit back. That was completely untrue, as WE DIDN'T cancel, they couldn't uphold their end of the contract.
We will be DISPUTING and filling a complaint with the BBB, putting it all over social media, and making sure that this isn't just another dollar they get to steal from just another simp.
I canceled my move on August 12, well within the 72 hour contract period. I was told on numerous occasions by numerous people that my request for a refund was reviewed and that my check was in the mail.
I was told this no less than five times. It is two months later, clearly more than ample time to obtain my refund. Now they are citing contract language informing me that they can cancel my refund if I say negative things about them before they have had a chance to review my case.
It has been two months!!! They do not return phone calls or emails and threaten me with harsh language.
This company is a SCAM!! Beware! Do not conduct business with them.
My moving experience has been, by far, the worst transaction I’ve ever made in my life.
It started off by being late when the salesperson with Standard Van Lines I spoke to told me that everything would definitely be picked up by a certain date so that I could book a flight. Turns out after I complained when they were late, customer service told me they never should have said that as they can’t guarantee pick up dates. So I wasted money on a flight, and the movers came about 8 days later.
The next issue was that when the movers with Non Stop Moving finally did come, we came to find out that the salesperson botched my inventory by putting smaller items when the items should have been bigger (for example – I told him I had 20-25 plastic bins. He put those as small boxes, which is more than twice as small). This along with other mistakes caused my inventory cost to go from $3,900 to $6,200.
When Non Stop Moving moved my belongings into the new house, as I’m unpacking I found that a bag of custom clothes were stolen, along with all of my watches that were in a watch box (which was taped up inside of one of the plastic bins – meaning someone went through my stuff). When I brought this up to the movers, all they could say was that “it’s not my responsibility” – how is it not your responsibility when you’re literally in possession of my items? When I called Non-Stop Moving about this, whoever I spoke to basically implied I was lying about what was missing and that there’s no way of knowing what was really in there.
It’s been hard to get in touch with either company and whenever I finally do get in touch with them, they don’t really provide any help to rectify the situation. This all happened in mid-September. It’s not early November and I have yet to hear a thing from either company or claims. My claim was put in a month and a half ago and I’ve heard nothing. Expensive and sentimental items just gone with no way of getting them back.
If I was to move again, I’m one of the laziest people but I would do it all myself rather than going through either of these companies ever again. This experience has wasted so much time and money.
I have moved 6 times in the last 12 years and this was the best experience thus far! Fragile items wrapped, PRICING unbeatable, my sales rep Anthony was patient but also fair so I could get the service I needed. Delivery took about a week and a half cross county. Movers were professional and customer service (Sarah) at Standard was reachable before, during; and after. Couldn’t be happier!
I hired Standard Van Lines to complete my move from Irving, California to Jacksonville, Florida on the 28th of July. It did not take me long to understand why they are so highly rated. I worked with a gentleman named Michael and he was very patient in going through the inventory and discussing details regarding the move. This was my first time moving cross-country so you can understand how I was skeptical and very particular about who I chose. I had been given several quotes that were quite a bit lower than Standard Van Lines, however, Mike was able to provide me with a DOT report that was flawless and put my mind at ease. When the movers showed up, they were polite and courteous and did an exceptional job getting everything loaded securely. We received our items within less than two weeks from our pick-up date and the movers unloaded and restaged our new home. I would recommend this company to all of my friends and family. 5 out of 5 stars to Mike and his team.
Recently moved from Louisiana to New Jersey. I am glad they did my move in the company of my choice. Last week, my move was scheduled to be completed Sunday, due to the storm I had to reschedule. The customer service team was super responsive and helped me to reschedule my move for two days later. Shockingly, my items took up less space than what they had estimated. Michael my sales representative quoted me 900 cubic feet, which is actually 850 cubic feet after loading! ! They told me it was going to be about 10 days for delivery when booking. I received it this morning! ! I could not recommend Michael and the Standard Van Lines team enough!! I guess it was a blessing that my original movers cancelled on me last minute.
Horrible experience, Fake and shady company. Don't book them their sales team is trained so that you trust them and book the move. Everything goes downhill after that. Save yourselves and do not deal with this company in any manner.
Upon reviewing your account, it seems that you have not moved with us yet, your scheduled move date is 10/2. When you originally booked, your moving plan was originally carried out in Pennsylvania. When you called in on 9/23 to change the date, you changed the delivery location as well. I do understand that you are frustrated over the additional $151 dollars being added to the balance due to extra 200 miles. Due to the additional costs being added to the job because of this request, this additional money must be added to the contract.
This was my first experience moving long distance. At first I wanted 5 quotes to compare, but everyone sounded pushy & asked for a deposit without even answering all of my questions. I came across standard Van lines, which was the most expensive one. I had questions, Scott answered all of them. He showed me the reason why they were higher. After 2 or 3 phones calls I signed a contract. The move went smooth. Make sure you over estimate & be honest with what you have. 5 stars
This is a brokerage company (middle man). Their agents who answer the phone and you deal with are liars. They say anything to get your deposit and keep you from looking any further. Better to just go straight to the moving company to alleviate 'surprise' extra costs.
